6 months after birth...SHOWTIME!
Well, I DID IT!!!! I have officially accomplished my goal of getting back on stage at an NPC competition within 6 months of my baby being born! This past Saturday, I competed at the NPC Excaliber in Culver City. This was my first show since July of 2011 and I couldn’t wait to get on stage.
The morning of the show was as perfect as could be! I sat there laughing with my friend and makeup artist, Jamie, as my husband and son sat on the couch watching my transformation. With my make-up done, hair flowing and tan sparkling, I made my way to the venue. My phone continued the chirp the entire morning with messages of support and encouragement. I found a seat in the balcony next to my husband, my dad and my son, and waited patiently for my group to go on stage.
Finally it was time. My time!! My heels clicked as my class walked behind the thick black curtain hanging backstage. We lined up at stage left and walked one by one to the center, showing our poses and the physiques we worked so hard for. My smile was brighter than the spotlights that shined on me as I made my way to the center of the stage. That moment was one of the best that I have ever experienced in my life. At this time last year, I was about 3 months pregnant and watching the competitors on the stage at the 2011 Excaliber show. I was thinking of my goal that I made to compete by the time the little baby inside me was 6 months old and how excited I was by the challenge. To be walking on the stage, one year later and accomplishing my goal was absolutely amazing! I gazed into the audience and focused in on my husband and my little boy smiling up at me. At that moment, I felt like I had won. I didn’t need to come home with a trophy because I was staring at the best prize I could ever ask for.
My moment on stage came to an end, but my smile didn’t fade for the rest the day. I am so thankful for the support of my husband through this time. There were many moments where I was tired or discouraged and he was right there to give me the hug OR the kick in the butt I needed. I’m also very thankful for my coaches at Team Bombshell…especially Coach V.
I hope that everyone who reads this part of my journey is encouraged and motivated to continue towards their personal goals. I thank God for giving me strength everyday to continue to pursue my goals while excelling in the responsibilities that I face daily.
While this journey is ending, a new one is beginning. The show goes on…
